The Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance (AdNU-CLG) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V launched the Leadership for Convergence Training Program (LCTP) for the City/ Municipal Action Team (C/MAT) Leaders in the Bicol Region on 15-16 June 2016. The series of Training-Workshop for the C/MAT Leaders which will run from June to October 2016 aims to build the capacities of the C/MAT Leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge in managing organizational challenges, facilitating partnerships and enhancing engagements with external stakeholders. Four classes were organized for the said Program.
The event started with the Launching and Orientation in the morning of 15 June 2016 at the Bro. Richard Michael Fernando, SJ, Conference Hall. It was attended by the C/MAT Leaders from all over the region namely: Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate and Sorsogon. The event was graced by Fr. Primitivo E. Viray, Jr, SJ, President of the Ateneo de Naga University, who encouraged the participants to have balance between contemplation & action and to get into the ‘balcony’ so as to see what is going on the ‘dance floor’ and Arwin O. Razo, Assistant Regional Director DSWD Field Office V, who also motivated the participants to be truly Bridging Leaders in their particular fields. After the brief program, the trainers assisted the participants to their respective classes for the conduct of the 1st Module – The Self and the Social Divide.
The 1st Module is composed of the following training-workshop sessions: Introduction and Leveling Off Expectations, Introduction of the Leadership for Convergence Program and the Roadmap, Understanding Inequities, Bridging Leadership: A Model for Building Partnerships, My Leadership Story, Personal Purpose, My Leadership Capital, Systems Thinking, Understanding my Convergence Team: My Guiding Coalition and Synthesis and Integration.
It was conducted simultaneously in the following venues with Trainers: (1) CLG Training Room – Dr. Delia B. Oco, Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Emma N. Intia and Jay P. Abawag; (2) Multi-Purpose Room, O’Brien Library – Rolan Jon G. Bulao, Maria Lourdes M. Vargas and Benita Michele C. Verdadero; (3) Viewing Room 2 – Francisco Rico U. Raquitico, Marlyn L. Tejada and Ryan Giancarlo D. Macandog; and (4) Arrupe 315 – Karlos Jerome N. Llorin, Dr. France T. Caayao and Errol C. Pederio.
Dr. Elmer S. Soriano, Consultant of the DSWD was present during the conduct of the said training. The LCT Program is being spearheaded by Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of the AdNU-CLG with Ms. Marilou Palacio as the DSWD Regional Convergence Coordinator.
