The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program of the Graduate Studies, in cooperation with Center for Local Governance, organized a Seminar on Social Media Ethics for Public Servants last 5 March 2016 at the CLG Training Room of Ateneo de Naga University. The seminar was attended by MPA and MBA students of the Ateneo de Naga University.
The speakers were Federico Jose T. Lagdameo, Professor at the Philosophy Department of the Ateneo de Naga University, and Jaymar R. Azagra, the Human Resource Specialist II of the Civil Service Commission Region 5.
The half-day seminar was intended to raise awareness on the ethics and responsible use of social media, the pros and cons of posting in social media sites, regulations and policies on social media, overview on the guidelines of the norms and conduct of public officials and employees, and highlights of the Republic Act 6713 (also known as Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees). The speakers also highlighted some important social media guidelines regarding the election which was timely and relevant. An open forum was conducted at the end of the discussion.
