The Department of Allied Business Courses of the College of Business and Accountancy sponsored the 1st Income Generating Project Students’ Formation Session with the theme “Igniting Entrepreneurial Desire” in the company of Bro. Raymund Belleza, S.J. head of Administrative Services in Ateneo de Naga University.

Bro. Raymund shared the session’s main objectives:
1. To define Magis and St Ignatius’s concept behind it;
2. To define Ignatian Desire; and
3. To relate Magis and Ignatian Desire to business.

After short introductions and sharing of the objectives, Bro Belleza started the discussion by introducing the concept of magis and what it means to Ateneans. The Jesuit brother shared that “Magis is not necessarily excellence. It’s also working for God’s greater glory.”

The second objective was achieved by sharing the story of St. Ignatius of Loyola on how he found out what he desired. Bro Belleza shared that that business is a process of trial and error, and it’s not always a success story. A young entrepreneur should discover the process of knowing what to do for Magis. It begins with the desire to do great things for God.

He also pointed out the challenges of Ignatian Desire in the context of a student. He explained the student must first learn to have “passion.”

Finally, Bro. Raymund shared with the IGP students his unique experiences in banking and his previous work as University Treasurer at Ateneo de Zamboanga University. He also gave the students the time to share their concerns regarding IGP requirements and offered the students some possible solutions.
