The Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), a trustee of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE), through the Ateneo de Naga University College of Education, recently hosted the three-day SHS Teachers’ Training for private school teachers from all over Bicol Region last 6-8 February 2016.
The SHS Training gathered 420 private school teachers in four core subjects, namely, Communication, Science, Mathematics, and Humanities.
Fr. Primitivo E. Viray, Jr., SJ, Regional FAPE Program Director and ADNU President, welcomed the participants during the opening ceremonies. Two plenary speakers, Dr. Ronaldo Elicay, ADNU SHS Coordinator, and Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, FAPE Regional Program Coordinator and ADNU College of Education Dean focused on SHS Framework and the curriculum and the alignment of teaching and assessment strategies with the SHS standards, respectively.
The afternoon training on the second day was graced by Rhodora Angela F. Ferrer, PAFE Executive Director, who encouraged the participants to stay in the private schools.
The core of the training sessions was the unpacking of the pedagogical and content knowledge where the teaching-learning process and assessment are observed.
Trainers were Dr. Evelyn E. Florece, Dr. Vasil A. Victoria (Communication), Dr. Michael Clores, Dr. Agnes Salvadora, Dr. Ramona Renegado, and Ma. Aurora Conde (Science), Dr. Ronald Elicay, Dr. Emmanuel Abejero, Fedrico Lagdameo, Imelda N. Sapiera (Humanities), and Cresencia C. Laguerta for Math.
