In order to equip the AdNU faculty and staff with the necessary skills to respond to disasters, the School Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Group (SBDRRMG), in partnership with the Human Resource Management Office, organized a Fire Brigade Competency Training at the Nursing Amphitheater in the university last 20-23 October 2015.
Attended by 32 members of the faculty and staff from both the Bagumbayan Campus and the Pacol Campus, the training was packed with lectures, demonstrations, and simulations.
The Bureau of Fire Protection Naga City Central Station personnel, spearheaded by SFO1 Mario Reburiano, Jr., discussed to the participants the proper procedures of the basics of first aid, life support, bandaging, fire suppression, and fire equipment. On the last session of the training, the participants were taught all the procedures during fire disaster scenarios such as the use of the firetruck and the firehose.
BFP trainers shared that Ateneo de Naga University is the first school in Naga City and Camarines Sur, if not in Bicol region, to have an organized and certified School based Fire Brigade team in addition to the requirement of Sec. 7(d) of the Fire Code of the Philippines (RA9514).
