The Department of Allied Business Courses of the College of Business and Accountancy, in partnership with Rotary Club Naga City, sponsored the Seminar Workshop Container Gardening Made Easy. Representatives from Canaman, lead by Barangay Captains Bernabe Trinidad (San Roque) & Tomas Civico (Casuray), attended the special event.

The seminar was conducted as part of AdNU’s annual celebration of the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The event was in line with the festival’s objective which was to provide extension services to its partner barangays to uplift livelihood and promote care for the environment.

The seminar workshop’s resource speaker was Ernesto E. Asence III, an agricultural technologist of Naga City’s Agricultural Office. Mr Asence is also a part-time faculty of the Department of Allied Business Courses. The objectives of the workshop were to educate ADNU’s partner barangay communities the value of planting even in a small container or small space in the backyard; to instill the value of self reliance by planting their own vegetables; and to encourage community members in practicing the 3Rs: reuse, reduce, recycle.

Aside from the two Barangay partners, faculty members and students of Ateneo de Naga University also attended the seminar and had a workshop on how to plant herbs (e.g. tarragon, basil) in the plastic bottles.
