The Higher Education Regional Research Centers (HERRC) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) sponsored the CHED-HERRC National Research Conference at the Grnd Regal Hotel in Davao City last 6-8 August 2014. Faculty members of the Ateneo de Naga University presented their completed researches funded by CHED-HERRC.

Dr. Bernadette Gumba, faculty of Economics, presented her study entitled “Baseline Survey on Women’s Participation in Economic Activities in the Poorest Municipality of Camarines Sur;” Dr. Jesus Cyril Conde, faculty of Literature, discussed “A Study of Oral Literature and Culture of Anito Worship in Presentacion, Camarines Sur;” Mr. Joshua Martinez described the ”Development of the Philippine Journal Citation Index Database and Web Software;” and Dr. Allan Sioson, Dean of Computer Studies, reported the “Philippine Journal Citation Index Database from 2007-2011.”

The conference was formally opened with an inspirational message from the Chairperson of CHED Dr. Patricia Licuanan. The plenary talks on research in Higher Educational Institutions in the Philippines, CHED’s programs and plans on supporting faculty researches, patent and copyright were discussed by Dr. William Padolina, Atty. Ricardo Blancaflor, and Dr. Napoleon Juanillo.
