The University Social Involvement Council (USIC), through the Center for Local Governance (CLG), successfully finished the series of Training on Administration of Justice and Promotion of Peace in the Community (AJPPC) for the Ateneo de Naga University’s Partner Communities in Magarao and Milaor last 14-15 August and 28-29 August, respectively. Prior to which was the same training conducted for the partner barangays in Canaman last 10-11 July 2014. The activity aims to equip local leaders with the skills and knowledge in line with the delivery of their respective functions, thus helping them become more competent as public servants with a sense of integrity and public accountability.

Duke Thomas G. Dolorical, MA, from the Department of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Science and Atty. Jonel M. Ursua, from the Department of Allied Business, College of Business and Accountancy were the designated AJPPC trainers in Magarao. The activity was facilitated by Benita Michele C. Verdadero of the CLG with student volunteer assistants, namely, Ray Douvani Regondola, Laine Jen Huang, Erwin Primavera, Justin Hendrix Villegas, and Timmie Alarkon.

In Milaor, Dr. Margie B. Mirando from the Department of Allied Business, College of Business and Accountancy served as the AJPPC trainer for day one, while and Jay Abawag served as the facilitator and resource speaker for day two.

The two-day training both in Magarao and Milaor covered the following topics: Katarungang Pambarangay, Lupong Tagapamayapa, Mediation, Concilliation, Arbitration, Cases Covered by Katarungang Pambaragay, Venue and Jurisdiction, Bill of Rights, and Case Practice.
