AdNU Press is on a roll and local literature continues to grow stronger as several books written by Bikolano authors have been chosen as finalists in the 33rd National Book Awards.
Nominated Books
Mary Ann Moll’s Married Women: Short Stories is a contender in the Cirilio Bautista Prize for Short Fiction in English. Married Women is also one of the four* new books launched by the AdNU Press during the PEN forum-workshop last July 2014.
Hagong: Mga Osipon [AdNU Press], edited by Dr Paz Verdades Santos and Frank Peñones, is nominated for Best Anthology in Bikol. Hagong is a collection of short stories written by contemporary authors of the region.
Doros asin mga Anghel: Translations in Bikol of John Donne’s Holy Sonnet and Selected Works by Victor Nierva and Minatubod Ako sa Diklom: Translations in Bikol of Selected Works of Rainier Maria Rilke by Kristian Sendon Cordero** are finalists in the Gawad Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino Para sa Salin at Saliksik sa Wika Awards.
About the National Book Awards:
“National Book Awards is given every year by the NBDB and the Manila Critics Circle (MCC) to the best books written, designed, and published in the country. Subscribing to a high level of integrity, a book written or edited by a member is ineligible to win a National Book Award. However, members of the MCC who publish books receive Member’s Awards.”
