Ateneo Aqua Knights Host First Ignatian Swim Cup

The Ateneo Aqua Knights swimming varsity team of Ateneo De Naga University hosted the first Ignatian Swim Cup in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The event was made possible through a partnership with Metroswim Kingfishers and the Local Government Unit of Naga City. Held last 17 August 2014 at the Civic Center, Naga City, the event was organized to give the various collegiate swimming teams in the city the opportunity to test the strength and speed of their athletes.

The College Athletic Office fully supported the first swimming competition spearheaded by the Ateneo Aqua Knights. Through to the effort of student-coach Mau Alemania and her teammates, the Aqua Knights (who were mostly composed of rookies this year) were able to bring home the first runner-up trophy.

University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) took the top spot as the overall champion, AdNU got first runner-up, while Mariners Polytechnic Colleges and Universidad de Sta. Isabel were second and third runners-up, respectively. Coach Jec Claro, Director of College Athletics Office promised that the Ateneo Aqua Knights will continue to hold the swimming competition every year.
