CLG Conducts Training on Katarungang Pambarangay

The Center for Local Governance conducted the Training on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) on 5-6 June 2014. The event was held at the CLG Training Room and attended by participants coming from the Sangguniang Barangays of LGU Sipocot, Camarines Sur. The participants were composed of Punong Barangays, Barangay Councilors, Barangay Secretaries, Barangay Tanods, and Lupong Tagapamayapa members.

The training on KP aims to train the barangay justice implementers on the structures, procedures, and application of the Katarungang Pambarangay Laws which covered the Basic Principles and Proceedings of the Katarungang Pambarangay. The participants had workshop to demonstrate mediation, conciliation, and arbitration procedures as application of the inputs given by the Trainers.

The Trainers were Ms. Arrieth Genoveva O. Sanderson, MPA and Atty. Imee A. Estrada.  Ms. Sanderson discussed the definition and objectives of the Katarrungang Pambarangay, the purpose, the members of the Lupon, and the qualifications and disqualifications of a Lupon member; while Atty. Estrada discussed the procedures on how to implement the KP Law vis-a-vis the discussion of the cases falling under the KP Law and how to use the KP forms in the process.

The participants were active in asking questions in line with their experiences in their locality which was responded positively by the Trainers. The appreciation of the participants manifested by accepted among themselves that they have gained very useful learning and were looking forward to apply it in their locality.

Mr. Jay P. Abawag and Ms. Benita Michele C. Verdadero served as facilitators during the activity.
