The College of Education commits itself to striving for excellence through quality instruction, research, and community extension to improve the quality of basic education and to ensure individual optimal learning.

Vision

The College of Education as a Center of Excellence in teacher education envisions to commit to be a leader in the formation of Christ-centered, conscientious, compassionate, competent, and committed to change who can initiate reforms that can respond to and benefit from the demands and challenges of a fast-changing local and global learning environment.

Goals

In consonance with the Mission Statement of the Ateneo De Naga University, the College of Education seeks to provide its students with the Jesuit liberal education. Through its specialized curriculum, the College seeks to:

  • Foster Christ-centered pre-service teachers who manifest a sense of values and social conscience inspired by Ignatian charism, which will lead them to active involvement and participation in community development and nation-building. 
  • Develop conscientious pre-service teachers who demonstrate research competencies that will contribute to the expansion of existing knowledge and generation of new knowledge in the changing educational landscape;
  • Form compassionate pre-service teachers with a deep commitment to the cause of educating Bikol children and youth;
  • Produce competent pre-service teachers who possess teaching competencies consistent with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), specifically on instructional planning, content knowledge, pedagogy, curriculum, effective methodology, and assessment of learning;
  • Nurture is committed to changing pre-service teachers who practice professional and ethical teaching standards and who pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth.

BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (BSEd) Major in:

The BSEd is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to equip learners with the necessary and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major at the secondary level. It aims to develop highly motivated, competent, compassionate, and committed teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education, meeting the expectations of a beginning teacher as articulated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). After successful completion of all academic requirements of the degree/program, graduates of BSEd should be able to practice the teaching profession at the secondary level.

BACHELOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (BPEd)

The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to teach at the secondary level, inspired by Ignatian spirituality and values. It aims to develop highly motivated, competent, compassionate, and committed teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education, meeting the expectations of a beginning teacher as articulated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). After successful completion of all academic requirements of the degree/program, graduates of BPEd should be able to practice the teaching profession at the secondary level.

BACHELOR OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION (BEED) 

The BEED is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to teach at the elementary level, inspired by Ignatian spirituality and values. It aims to develop highly motivated, competent, compassionate, and committed teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for elementary education meeting the expectations of a beginning teacher as articulated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).

BACHELOR OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (BECEd) 

The BECEd is a four-year undergraduate teacher education degree program for students intending to teach in the early childhood care and education, inspired by Ignatian spirituality and values. It aims to develop highly motivated, competent, compassionate, and committed early childhood practitioners working with children from 0-8 years old in various early childhood settings (home, community, school, and workplace). It is aligned with the National Early Learning Framework (NELF), the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), and the first key stage, which is K to 3.

BACHELOR OF SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION – Generalist (BSNEd) 

The Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to specialize in special needs education, inspired by Ignatian spirituality and values. It aims to develop highly motivated, competent, compassionate, and committed teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for elementary education, meeting the expectations of a beginning teacher as articulated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Specifically, it aims to prepare teachers who will instruct and manage students with additional needs in inclusive and segregated educational settings. Its graduates will be equipped to teach the basic education curriculum and alternate curricula depending on the needs of the students. Those who will teach in the elementary school will be trained across different subject areas. Those who will teach at the secondary level will provide educational support to students with additional needs in inclusive classrooms or provide educational services to students who may be enrolled in special education centers.

BACHELOR OF SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION (BSNEd) with specialization in:

  2. Early Childhood Education
  3. Teaching Learners with Visual Impairment
  4. Teaching Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Learners
