The INSTITUTE OF POLITICS (IP) is an integral component of the Ateneo de Naga University which works closely with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Social Sciences. It is a direct response to the need for an institutionalized advocacy of alternative politics, electoral reforms, and public service ethics.
At the same time, IP provides the opportunity for Political Science students and professionals to pursue their craft in political analysis, research, and advocacy. In the long term, IP is an organization that will recruit, train, and develop Political Scientists in the locality.
Being part of an academic institution, IP is basically non-partisan.
VISION
A dynamic academic institution contributing to the generation and utilization in the Bicol Region of knowledge about socio-political events and issues, IP shall be a venue for intellectual discourse and professional development.
MISSION
IP shall primarily engage in the pursuit of deeper social consciousness, conduct relevant and responsive community services, give training, and provide opportunities for the professional development of political scientists.
GOALS
IP will fulfill its mission by defining and articulating alternative political values and culture for the Bicolanos, pursuing research, offering training programs, and undertaking social development-oriented projects.
OBJECTIVES
- To develop a higher level of political consciousness among Bicolanos through issue advocacy, values clarification and orientation;
- To enhance understanding of Bicol political culture by pursuing scientific research;
- To upgrade capabilities of professional political scientists in the locality by providing training programs and professional development opportunities; and
- To provide venues for interdisciplinary cooperation through analysis and discussions of socio-political realities in Bicol
