Access to Information Policy & Open Data Initiative
Towards greater transparency and information sharing, the World Bank (WB) has opened to the public free access to its data documents and other research-generated information. Through its Access to Information (AI) Policy and Open Data Initiative, the WB provides its users access to data and information totaling over 2000 indicators from WB sources, databases, and pre-formatted tables at no cost.
Beat 89.5 Hosts Ina Talk Show
The Ateneo radio station Beat 89.5 is currently hosting Ina 300: Remembering, Renewing, and Sharing our Faith Through Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Ina 300 is a two-hour talk show which features the most relevant issues about the Bicolanos’ faith and devotion to Ina in relation to the coming Tricentennial Anniversary this September. You can catch the show every Sunday from 8:00AM to 10:00AM.

CLG Facilitates the Strategic Planning Workshop for DOH-CSTRC

26 June 2010—Multi-award winning director Marilou Diaz Abaya visited the Ateneo de Naga University to give a talk on Developing a Catholic Presence in Mass Media. The morning event, held at the Madrigal Amphitheater, was well-attended by students, seminarians, media practitioners, and representatives from various religious congregations.
AdNU Plants Forest of Hope
19 June 2010—The Ateneo de Naga University Community held a special tree planting activity at a site near the High School Campus in Pacol. Over 14 hectares wide, the lot, once occupied only by grass, is now filled with young trees thanks to the united effort provided by over two-hundred fifty volunteers composed of students, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Sioson to Receive OYS Award
The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Philippines has declared Dr. Allan Sioson, the Ateneo de Naga University’s Dean of the College of Computer Sciences, as one of the recipients of the 2010 Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) award in the field of Computer Science Applications.
AdNU Joins JENESYS
Seven Ateneans were chosen as student ambassadors to Japan for the third year of the Japan-East Asia Network for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme. The JENESYS Programme is a joint program of the Japanese Government and the National Youth Commision of the Philippines.
AdNU Celebrates 70th Anniversary
The Ateneo de Naga University celebrated its Platinum Anniversary last 5 June 2010. The celebration started with a Dawn Procession and ended in the evening with a Grand Ball and Soundtrek.
The anniversary festivities were composed of numerous projects and activities from students, faculty, staff, and friends of the university. After the Dawn Procession, a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was held at the Christ the King Church with Most Rev. Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legazpi, OP, DD as the main celebrant.
CHED Approves Two Research Projects Under COE-Teacher Education
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved two research projects submitted by the College of Education.
Ms. Cresencia Laguerta and Dr. Ronald SP. Elicay, in their study “College Students at Risk of Underachieving in Mathematics,” attempt to detect college students at risk of underachieving in mathematics and determine preventive measures or interventions rather than remediation. Their study describes who among the A-level College students are at risk of underachieving in mathematics, identifies possible predictors of achievement, and explores why A-level students fail in mathematics.

Celebrate a Successful Year
The Ateneo Men’s Basketball Team was in Metro Manila last May 17-24,2010 to undergo a week-long strength and conditioning training at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Complex of the Ateneo de Manila University. The team also played several tune up games with Manila-based teams including the Team B of the AdMU and the RP Women’s National Team. They also met up and played with the Dumlao Boys, a group of mostly young ADNU alumni based in Metro Manila.
OrSem 2010: Remembering, Rekindling, and Sharing the Ignatian Fire
The latest batch of freshmen and transferees were welcomed by the University through a three-day Orientation Seminar held last 28, 29 and 31 May 2010. With the theme Remembering, Rekindling, and Sharing the Ignatian Fire, this year’s OrSem paves way for three major celebrations: AdNU’s 70th Anniversary, the University’s continuing contribution to the 150 years of Jesuit Education in the Philippines, and the 300th Year Celebration of the Bicol’s devotion to Ina, the region’s Patroness. The College of Business and Accountancy of Ateneo de Naga University once again produced 28 new Certified Public Accountants (CPA). In the CPA Licensure Examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last 16-17 and 23-24 May 2010. The Ateneo de Naga got a rating of 70% for the first takers (from the 20 who took the Licensure Examination 14 passed, 5 are conditional). AdNU got an overall performance rating of 52%, against the national passing rate of 39.52%.
Candy Mechelle G. Sibulo, 6th national placer in the Licensure Exam for Teachers
Once again, the College of Education has produced 6th national placer, Miss Candy Mechelle G. Sibulo, in the 2010 April Licensure Examination for Teachers administered by the Professional Regulation Commission last 5 April 2010. Ms. Sibulo graduated Cum Laude with the degree of Bachelor of Elementary Education last 28 March 2010.
Incoming Student Leaders Attend A-WILL Series
Student officers from co-curricular, extra-curricular and volunteer groups attended two Ateneo Workshops on Ignatian Leadership for Life (A-WILL). They are the A-WILL Missioning-Visioning and the Annual Summer A-WILL. Newly elected presidents, vice presidents and other executive officers represented the different organizations in the Ignatian leadership program conducted by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). This year’s A-WILLs marked the first live-out workshop-seminar on the organization’s mission-vision and the first leader’s immersion with community leaders. The Ateneo de Naga University Ignatian Formation Center held its first Workshop in Ignatian Leadership and Spirituality (WILS 1) at the Casa Ofelia Resort, Barangay Carolina, Naga City last 16-19 May 2010. The College of Education hosted the 2010 In-Service Training (INSET) on the use of Understanding by Design (UbD) for first year teachers in the entire Region last May 17-19 2010 at the Arrupe Convention Hall (English), Richie Fernando Conference Hall (Filipino), Nursing Amphitheater (Math), Instructional Media Center (Science) and Home Economics Room (Araling Panlipunan).

for Education graduates
The College of Education requested the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Region-V to process the application for LET of the graduates of the College of Education last May 19 at the Faculty Room from eight until five in the afternoon. The PRC also accepted applications for the renewal of licenses of BACS teachers.

God has dashed our worst fears and blessed us with new hope – for our nation and for our city! I salute the volunteers and the professionals, the teachers and the students, who worked so hard and sacrificed so much to bring about yesterday's historic and peaceful elections! Towards preparing local citizens for meaningful participation in the May 10 elections, the Ateneo de Naga USIC-CSPEAI’s drafted training module for off-campus voters, particularly those in the university’s partner rural communities, was run before and after the Holy Week by its pool of volunteer faculty, personnel, and student trainers coming from the Social Sciences Department, College Faculty Club, Ateneo Personnel Club, Remontados, and Ignatian Formation Center-Campus Ministry Office.

Training on Anti-Corruption conducted for Cam Sur Barangays
The Center for Local Governance conducted an intervention focused on anti-corruption, specifically referred to as the Training on Building Communities towards Clean and Transparent Governance (TBCTCTG) last 16 and 23 April 2010 as contribution to the Voters' education efforts of the University for the coming May 2010 Polls. Participants of the said training were local officials and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders from various Municipalities of Camarines Sur.

AdNU ECE 2010 Grad Grabs Top Spot
Ten (10) AdNU ECE students have recently passed the latest ECE Board Exams held last 12-13 April 2010. This time, AdNU has received a school performance of 56% (National Passing rate: 27%). Godofredo Arnaiz III, who graduated from the Ateneo de Naga University this year, received the Top 1 spot with a score of 93.20%.
Lecture-Discussion on Parliamentary Procedure for Cam Sur Bankers Association
The Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance in partnership with the Camarines Sur Bankers Association conducted a half-day Lecture-Discussion on Parliamentary Procedures for the members of the said association. The activity aimed to: (1) know the Law and Fundamental Principles of the Parliamentary Procedure; (2) present the proper procedure of conducting meetings & sessions in the organization; and (3) undergo an actual demonstration of conducting meeting/ session. The ASSRC’s May 2010 Pre-Election Poll: Bongat Leads the Mayoral Race in the City of Naga
The Ateneo Social Science Research Center’s pre-election survey of February 21-March 6, 2010 has Bongat leading the race. The Mayoral race in the City of Naga has the following scores: Bongat 62%, Roco 16.7%, Botor 9.3%, Ortega 1.3% and Olea 0.3%. The undecided is 8.3% and abstain is 2%. Ateneo Toddlers Move Up
Thirty-two (32) toddlers from the Ateneo Child Learning Center (ACLC) Moved Up at the Xavier Hall last 19 March 2010 at 5:00 PM. The venue—decorated with colorful balloons, light fabrics, and a bright red carpet—was packed with proud parents and siblings. Chirps and cheers filled the room as everyone was excited for the graduation ceremony.

The Ateneo de Naga University College of Nursing held its Third Clinical Graduation and Ring Hop Ceremony last 18 March 2010 at the University Gymnasium at 4:00 PM. The Ignatian Nurses, their friends and relatives, and faculty members were all present to savor the momentous event.
Ateneo Basketball Camp
The Ateneo de Naga University, through it Basketball Program, is staging the Ateneo Basketball Camp (ABC) from 8 April –7 May 2010 at the ADNU Covered Courts. This activity is open to all kids age 10-15 years old. Schedule of training is from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00AM to 10:30AM.
Cordero to present poetics at UP Writers Workshop
Bikol writer and Ateneo de Naga lecturer Kristian Sendon Cordero was invited to participate as writing fellow for Filipino poetry in the annual Writers’ Workshop sponsored by the University of the Philippines’ Institute of Creative Writing (UP-ICW) which will be held in Baguio City this 4-11 April 2010.

The Ateneo Remontados Debate Society facilitated and gave inputs on the national situation, May 2010 automated elections, reflection and commitment-sharing last February 17, 2010 at the Brother Richard Fernando Hall.
SMART Money Now Available in AdNU
As approved by the Board Members and sealing the deal in a Memorandum of Agreement signing held last 24 February 2010, SMART Communications has made tuition payments easier by introducing SMART Money to the community. A booth has been set-up at the Xavier Hall for applications and inquiries from 15 to 26 March 2010.
Orientation on Magna Carta of Women
The Institute of Politics, Department of Social Sciences and Program for Gender Concerns sponsored a general orientation on the newly enacted law the Magna Carta of Women, last March 9, 2010 at the Arrupe Convention Center. It was part of the celebration of the Women’s Week spearheaded by the Program for Gender Concerns. The discussion was facilitated by Ms. Marian Chrissel Adriano, a student of BSBA Business Economics.
Dr. Gumba Joins Women’s Rights
Workshop in Thailand
Dr. Bernadette Gavino-Gumba, faculty member of the Department of Social Sciences, was selected to participate in the Follow-up Workshop to the Training Programme on the Equal Status and Human Rights of Women in South East Asia which she attended in Cambodia last 5-16 October 2009. She was one of the five participants selected from the 2009 batch, to join others from batches of 2007, 2008A and 2008B.
Way of the Cross
The university held its first Way of the Cross last 5 March 2010. Facilitated through a joint effort from the College Formation offices, religious organizations, and volunteer groups, the event was a success as students, faculty, staff, and visitors gathered together to pray.

The annual Gawad SSG Awards was held last 24 February 2010 to give recognition to the students, faculty, and staff of the Ateneo de Naga University Community for their genuine service to the institution. ADNU Celebrates University Day
With high spirits and engaging enthusiasm, the Ateneo De Naga University community celebrated its University Day last 20 February 2010. First in the line of activities was the Fun Run organized by the University Athletics Office led by its Director Jec Claro. At least 291 participants run from ADNU to the main thoroughfares of Naga and then back to ADNU campus. A simple breakfast of bread and macaroni soup was served afterwards at the University Covered Courts.

19 February 2010—over seventy (70) employees were given Service Awards for their passionate and continuing service to the Ateneo de Naga University. The event, which started at 8:30 AM, was held at the University Gym.

Friedrich-Alexander-Gymnasium’s Year 12 Student Saskia Hümmer Visits AdNU Under EPECTO
Exchange Program on Education, Culture and Teaching Objectives (EPECTO). It was on the eve of Christmas when Saskia Hümmer’s domestic carrier from Manila landed in Naga. The sun was still flamboyant even at the coolest time of the Philippine year, and humid winds were poised to continue hovering over the city. On Early Childhood Education Program
The City Government of Naga, through the Naga City Division of City Schools, and the Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU), through its College of Education, have agreed in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to work together in implementing a Program for Early Childhood Education for day care and pre-school teachers in Naga City.

Alba, Ph, D and Ms. Emerlie Rayala, twenty (20) AdNU students joined the delegation of Media Studies Students and Educators from 60 Schools all over the country last 4-5 February at the Bulwagang Balagtas, NALLRC Bldg., Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. “OROLAY EKONOMIYA”
The Economics Cluster of the Department of Social Sciences sponsored a lecture-forum called “Orolay Ekonomiya: Review of 2009 and Preview of 2010” last February 10, 2010 at the Arrupe Convention Center. The venue was packed with students from different colleges and year levels particularly those taking up Principles of Economics and those majoring in AB Economics and BSBA Business Economics.

Theo Dept Initiates First Theological Reflections Series
From 9-10 February 2010, the Theology Department launched their first Theological Reflections Series, titled Didaskalies ("to instruct"), at the Bro. Richie Fernando Hall. As an alternative class of Theology, students from all year levels were invited to attend the talks tackling various concerns regarding faith and the Church.
Auditing Firms Visit R5 in 2010
The Xavier Hall was filled with Accountancy students and teachers last Sunday, 7 February 2010, for the Auditing Firms Visit R5 in 2010. Over 190 future CPAs coming from the Ateneo de Naga University, Brentwood International School, Divine Word College of Legazpi, Daniel B. Peña Memorial College Foundation, Camarines Norte State College, and Catanduanes State College participated in the event.

The Ateneo de Naga University High School and College Community (Faculty & Staff) once again participated in a special forum on the matters of humanistic and spiritual development through a deeper understanding and appreciation of Church Encyclicals. Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth), the latest social encyclical authored by Pope Benedict XVI, was the first to be discussed among the community this 2010.
Psych Week 2010 is All About Being Positive
Psychology Week started with a very positive atmosphere, kicking off with the theme: We Find Ways: Various Fields in Psychology, Finding Ways to a Happy Life. The week’s first day, 25 January 2010, began with a series of events at the Arrupe Convention Hall. Dr. Bernadette Dayan, Department Chair of Literature and Language Studies, gave her Welcome Remarks, followed by the introduction of the keynote speaker by Dr. Ronaldo Elicay, Department Chair of Psychology.
Citizens in the Public Square: A Forum on Democratization
The AdNU Arrupe Convention Hall was packed with students, guests, and journalists for Citizens in the Public Square: A Forum on Democratization, a special event featuring Naga City's Mayoral Candidates, held last 26 January 2010 at 3:00 PM. Former City Mayor Sulipicio Roco of Aksyon Demokratiko and Atty. Adan Botor of the Nationalist People's Coalition were able to attend the forum.

The Ateneo de Naga University Instructional Media Center was packed with lovers of local literature, culture, and history for the Harampangan Asin Pintakasi Nin Mga Libro held last 25 January 2010 at 3:00 PM. The forum was a part of the Philosophy Department's series of talks in its departmental Week, Kristian Sendon Cordero, a multi-awarded Bikolano writer, facilitated the event.

Through the effort and invitation of AdNU-based GIRA: Footsteps to Genuine Change, 2009 CNN Hero of the Year and Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) Founder Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. visited the Ateneo de Naga University last 23 January 2010 as part of the launching of the first local replication of the "Kariton Klasrum Klinik and Kantin," also known as "K4" or "Kariton (Pushcart) Education."
Workshop on the General Education Curriculum
The Ateneo de Naga University hosted a Workshop on the General Education Curriculum (GEC) for Bicol Foundation for Higher Education (BFHE Members) last 14 January 2010 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.Twenty-seven (27) participants coming from the Ateneo de Naga University, Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI), University of Nueva Caceres (UNC), Bicol University (BU), Bicol College (BC), and the University of North Eastern Philippines (UNEP) gave their thoughts on the current General Education Curriculum.
Continuing Voters' Education
As a follow-up to the teachers' training held last year, the University Social Involvement Council Committee on Socio-Political Education, Advocacy and Involvement (USIC-CSPEAI) together with the Social Sciences Department continue their campaign for a clean and responsible 2010 National Elections by developing the Voters' Education Module. The last event regarding its development through practice and consultation was held last 8 December 2010 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.
2nd ATENEO REVERSE CAROLING 2009
In the spirit of thanksgiving for all the blessings received from God, the Center for Community Development together with the volunteers from the Center for Community Development-Volunteers (CCD-Voltz) and Liga ng mga Estudyante sa Agham Pampulitika (LEAP) and the University Band were inspired to give more once again for Christmas through singing the songs of love, joy and hope and sharing gifts to the community.

AdNU Celebrates
63rd Grand Alumni Homecoming
It was a great way to end the year for the AdNU Alumni as they celebrated the 63rd Grand Alumni Homecoming last 30 December 2009 at the Ateneo de Naga University Campus.
The celebration started with a Mass at 7:30am with Fr. Nono Alfonso, SJ (of AdNU HS Batch '87) as the main celebrant, followed by the basketball championship round ('84 vs '87) at 9:00am at the university gym, with AdNU HS Batch '87 taking the top spot. .
APC Builds Home for Family
The Ateneo Personnel Club (APC) held its annual Christmas Party by fulfilling the spirit of giving last 20 December 2009. Instead of the usual food, drinks and a cozy venue, the APC went to Balatasan, Calabanga to share their merriment with a partner community.

The Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) certified five Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) faculty on November 28 at Sofitel Hotel, Manila.Dr. Tita A. Go, director of the ADNU Center for Psychological Services (CPS), was certified as a clinical psychologist. She currently serves as director of the ADNU Center for Psychological Services (CPS) and faculty of the ADNU Graduate School.

the Maguindanao Experience
The USIC Committee on Socio-Political Education, Advocacy, and Involvement (USIC-CSPEAI), as part of an effort towards continuing political education and social consciousness-raising in the university, will be hosting a weekly roundtable discussion sessions on urgent socio-political issues and concerns. Feast of Saint Francis Xavier
 After days of waiting, the feast of AdNU's patron saint, St. Francis Xavier, S.J., was finally celebrated last 3 December 2009. To prepare for this special occasion, a novena started last week with different departments sponsoring the daily mass. Outreach activities were also organized last 1 December 2009 to share the spirit of the occasion with partner communities and to remember the missionary works of St. Francis Xavier.

CLG Conducts the 2nd Run of the Training on Project Proposal Writing
The Ateneo de Naga University - Center for Local Governance (CLG) held its last capability-building activity offering for 2009. The conduct of the two-day Training on Project Proposal Writing marks the end of the CLG activities prepared for the Local Government Units of Camarines Sur for 2009. The said activity was held at the CLG Training Room on 25-26 November 2009. The training was participated by barangay officials from the Third and Fourth Districts of Camarines Sur.
ADNU Faculty and Students Attend Philippine Economic Society Convention
Dr. Bernadette Gumba, Ms. Rosario Felix, Ms. Vanessa Bigay and Ms. Margie Mirando led the Ateneo de Naga University delegation to the 47th Annual Convention of the Philippine Economic Society at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas last 13 November 2009. A total of eleven students of AB Economics and BSBA Business Economics attended the conference with the theme “Survival and Growth: The Philippines 2010 and Beyond.”

Responding to the need for a more coordinated and integrated effort at socio-political education, advocacy, and involvement of the University, ADNU has created the Social Involvement Council Committee on Socio-Political Education and Involvement (USIC-CSPEAI).
Best First Books in English to be Honored
A writer's first book is cause for celebration, more so if the book happens to be selected as one of the best of its kind. On December 11, 2009, the four best first books in English for 2007 and 2008 will be honored in a forum in UP Diliman. The forum is in line with the conferment of the prestigious Madrigal Gonzalez Best First Book Award to one of the four finalists.

AdNU Takes Top Prize in Raul S. Roco Cup
The first day of December was memorable for our Ignatian Debaters as they were crowned as champions in the Third Raul S. Roco Cup. The debate tournament was hosted by the Unibersidad de Sta. Isabel in cooperation with the Raul S. Roco Foundation and the City of Naga. The event was held last 28 Novermber 2009 at the USI grounds with the finals at the SM City mall in 1 December 2009.
PRC Releases Civil Engineer Licensure Examination Results
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released last 25 November 2009 the list of passers from the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination. The Ateneo de Naga University received an overall performance of 64% (out of the national passing rate of 46.46%). For first timers, AdNU received a 73% passing rate.
College of Education Produces 2 National Placers
This is it! Not only did the College of Education produce a 6th placer in the Licensure Examination (Elementary Level) in Ms. Jinky Batalla, but also a 6th national placer, Ms. Ime Amor A. Mortel, in the Licensure Examination for Librarians. The College has an outstanding passing performance in both licensure examinations.
Education Dean participates in two international conferences in China
Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit participated in two international conferences in Shanghai, China from 13-17 November 2009. Organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), East China Normal University, and Beijing Normal University, the International Forum on Teacher Education was held at East China Normal University from 13-15 November 2009.

As a result of the concerns raised by the residents of Lupi regarding the construction of the Libmanan-Cabusao Dam, the Institute for Environmental Conservation and Research (INECAR) responded by conducting an initial investigation.

AdNU: Bicol's #1 in LET
The Ateneo de Naga University once again took the top spot in the recent Licensure Exam for Teachers (Elementary and High School Level) held last 4 October 2009. From the results released last 15 November 2009, AdNU has a passing rate of 94% (for first timers) in the Elementary Level and 91% (also for first timers) in the High School Level.
It's Raining Pixels: ADAAF 09 Opens
19 November 2009 - Pixels, in 2-D and 3-D, rained all over the Arrupe Convention Hall as the Ateneo Digital Arts and Animation Festival 2009 (ADAAF 09) officially opened. To formally start the event, a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held with Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J., University President, snipping the red fabric.

The Ateneo community through the Center for Community Development (CCD) will once again spearhead this year’s conduct of REVERSE CAROLING on December 18, 2009. This year’s chosen beneficiaries will be from the poorest families of Bgy.Sta Justina, Gabas, Antipolo, Sagrada and Bgy.Sta.Cruz of the Municipality of Buhi, Camarines Sur. They will be hearing Christmas carols from our very own University Band volunteers and will receive Christmas gifts coming from our school.

AdNU Hosts the 2nd PSM Regional Convention
and Scientific Meeting
The Ateneo de Naga University Math and Science Department hosted the Second Regional Convention and Scientific Meeting of the Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM) last 14 November 2009 at the Bro. Richie Fernando, S.J. Hall last 14 November 2009. Over a hundred and twenty (120) representatives from schools and local government units participated.

The Ateneo de Naga University, represented by a cluster of faculty and students under the coordination of the Campus Ministry Office, with the participation of the university band, joined the Pilgrimage of Ina from the Diocese of Libmanan to the Archdiocese of Caceres last 14 November 2009.

Leo Rull, 5th Placer in ECE Board Exam
The results of the ECE Board Examination conducted last 26-27 October 2009 are finally out. This time, the Ateneo de Naga University has a registered Passing Percentage of 36%. Mr. Leo Rull also took the top 5 spot in the recently concluded exam.

Exchange Program on Education, Culture and Teaching Objectives (EPECTO). With the acclaim of their class moderators, two students from Germany have been invited and welcomed by AdNU President Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. to enroll in the university as academic exchange students for a semester under the aegis of EPECTO.
OrSem 2009: Second Semester
OrSem happens twice in AdNU. To introduce the new students and transferees to the Ateneo de Naga University life, an Orientation Seminar for the second Semester was held last 3 November 2009 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.

The Ateneo de Naga University Formation Office held its annual Seminar Workshop on The Characteristics of Jesuit Education (CJE) for New Employees last 26-28 October 2009 at the Arrupe Convention Hall. The three-day event provided an integrated exposition on the nine (9) CJE statements as well as fruitful discussions through reflection sharing.

For two days the members of AdNU High School Batch of 1969 immersed themselves in blissful memories of their high school years: sharing stories, catching up, and experiencing once again the love formed through friendship.

Ateneo Empowers Sañgay Lupon Members
The Ateneo de Naga University Social Involvement Council-Governance Cluster (USIC-GC) and Center for Local Governance (CLG) conducted the last run of the Training on Administration of Justice and Promotion of Community Peace in the Barangay in the Local Government Unit of Sañgay, Camarines Sur. Over 30 Lupon members coming from the following pilot barangays Atulayan, Bongalon, Nato and Sto. Niño actively participated in the training.
Gerona, Conde, Remodo and Gumba Present Papers in Bicol Conference
The Holy Rosary Minor Seminary Auditorium was transformed into an agora of rich cultural dialogue last 21-23 October 2009 as scholars, educators, researchers, and appreciators of local history & culture filled the venue. The event, titled The 2009 National Conference on Bikol History and Culture: Illuminating the Path to the Future, aimed to promote and preserve Bicol culture through various discussions. The conference also provided an avenue for people who wished to gather additional insights on the richness of our region's history and heritage.

Exchange Program on Education, Culture and Teaching Objectives (EPECTO). It was in the cloudy morning of 6 September 2009 when the neighbors of AdNU’s Liboton Apartment—also known to exchange students as the EPECTO Center—witnessed an hour’s episode of hugs and tears as Julia Ernst and Juliane Wiesinger reluctantly parted with their AdNU friends in the last minutes of their sojourn.

Exchange Program on Education, Culture and Teaching Objectives (EPECTO). The sun was in full glory and the airport was a scorched landscape when Aglaia Brütting’s domestic flight arrived at a little past noontime of 20 October 2008. She was to be the first Friedrich-Alexander-Gymnasium student to expand the parameters of EPECTO’s student-sojourns, by becoming the first to register as a non-credit enrollee for an entire semester under the aegis of the program.
Ateneo Accountancy Makes it to the Top Ten
in the October 2009 CPA Licensure Examination
The October 2009 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination brought honor to the Ateneo de Naga University with a 10th placer Paul Robert Vera Morata (90.14, the highest rating is 91.71). For the first timers, the university got a rating of 71% (from the 41 who took the Board Examination, 29 passed, 2 are conditional). Dr. Gumba Attends Training Program in Cambodia
5-16 October 2009—Dr. Bernadette Gumba of the Department of Social Sciences attended a 12-day seminar in Phnom Pen, Cambodia. Titled “Training Programme on Equal Status and Human Rights of Women in South East Asia,” the event was organized by Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI), and Gender Development in Cambodia (GAD/C) under the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). Twenty-six (26) representatives from nine (9) countries in South East Asia coming from different sectors such as government, academe, national human rights institutions, non-government organizations, both domestic and international, and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees participated.

Donee Institution Status
The Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) conducted a one-day visit last 12 September 2009 regarding the renewal-application of the Ateneo de Naga University for its Donee Institution Status.
Based on the deliberation of the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) Board last 28 September 2009, the Ateneo de Naga University passed the PCNC standards and was granted a five (5)-year certification for Donee Institution status.
Exam Week Ends, Gabay Week Starts
9 October 2009 - Xavier Hall was filled with people garbed in green as Gabay Week 2009 has finally arrived. Themed "Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges," GW aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among scholars through sports events, provide additional learning experiences for the scholars other than academics, encourage active participation from the members, and provide an avenue for the scholars to develop their skills and talents.
USIC-Governance cluster kicks off anti-corruption training in Calabanga
The Governance Cluster of the University Social Involvement Council (USIC) conducted for the first time the Building Communities towards Clean and Transparent Governance Training on October 16, 2009 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall of Calabanga, Camarines Sur. The program forms part of the Ateneo de Naga University’s voters’ education efforts in preparation for the 2010 polls.

Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) - Sagnay: Making a Difference in the lives of people in coastal communities

September 24—the Social Sciences Department, in cooperation with the Working Group for ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism and the Commission on Human Rights, held a seminar at the Arrupe Convention Hall at 3:00pm. 18 September 2009—it was a spectacular sight to behold. Amidst the unpredictable weather and traffic, the Ateneo de Naga University Community danced in merriment to prepare the people in prayer for the Novena and Sponsored Mass. Presented by the College PE students, clad in their blue and gold uniforms, a joyful movement of dance and music was shown within the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral Compound.

A Procession for Ina
11 September 2009—over 2,000 Ateneans joined this year's procession for our Lady of Peñafrancia. The AdNU community started gathering at 7:00am at the Peñafrancia Church. The procession then commenced at 9:00am, passing through the common procession route—from Peñafrancia Avenue, to Centro, to Elias Angeles Street, ending at the Metropolitan Cathedral at 10:00am.

CAS Holds Recognition Rites: Elicay and Laguerta Read Paper on “College Students at Risk of Underachievement in Mathematics”
The College of Arts and Sciences feted with honors the students who made it to the Dean’s List during the Second Semester of School Year 2008-2009 last August 28, 2009, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Instructional Materials Center. Sixty-six (9%) students out of the 732 enrolled in the College made it to the List. This is exclusive of the 39 (5.33%) who had qualified to the President’s List and were accorded honors by the President, Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. last July 23, 2009 at the Arrupe Convention Center.

27 August 2009 – Students took a break from their regular classes and attended this semester’s Alternative Class Program (ACP). There were a total of 53 topics for the workshop category and 13 for forum which were held at various venues within the university.
As Team Emerges Over-All Champion For Intramurals 2009
After 10 or more years, and after several tries, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS or AS Team) finally bagged once again the Overall Championship Award for Intramurals 2009. That is aside from winning top rank in Modern Dance competition, Battle of the Bands and Volleyball (men). Among others, AS also won 1st runner up in Basketball (men), Football, Softball, Laro ng Lahi and 2nd runner up in Futsal.

College of Commerce recognizes Dean’s List
The Awarding of Honors Certificate for the Dean’s List of the College of Commerce was held on August 12, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at the Arrupe Convention Hall.The data showed that during the first semester of School Year 2008-09, 117 Commerce students (4.9 percent) made it to the President’s List, while 242 (10.2 percent) were in the Dean’s List.

ISKOS conducts tutorial sessions
The Education Honors Program (EHP) of the College of Education has been providing scholarships to deserving students for about six years. Five years later, the EHP scholars with the guidance of Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit conceived of solidifying them through an organization known as ISKOS.

Of Dance and Music: A Day Blessed by Ina
 As part of the Peñafrancia Celebrations, An Pagsunko ni Ina, Our Lady of Peñafrancia’s visit to the Ateneo de Naga University, was held on 14 August 2009 at 12:00 noon. A cluster of students, appropriately wearing their yellow PE uniforms, danced to the music of the University Band to welcome Ina to the Christ the King Church. A Welcome liturgy was held and a Vigil followed.

BACS Meet Returns!

 BACS Meet 2009 opened successfully starting with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J., BACS President, at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral. After the mass, the participants paraded from the Church to the Ateneo de Naga University Campus to prepare for the Opening Ceremony.
The program started with a Welcome Address given by Fr. Rex Alarcon, CEACAL President, followed by the presentation of participating associations, presidents, and hoisting of flags. Gabriel Bordado, Asian Games 2006 Finalist, lead the Symbolic Torch Lighting Ceremony followed by the Oath of Sportmanship with Allan Avila of the AdNU Golden Knights together with other student-athletes from various associations. Most Reverend Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., D.D., Archishop of Caceres, then gave his message to the participants. Soon after, Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. declared the formal opening of BACS Meet 2009.

On 19 June 2009 members of the Bicol Association of Catholic Schools (BACS) who had joined the military parade in the past came together in the spirit of discernment and reflection on the conduct of the Peñfrancia Fiesta. Our Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., D.D., had called the discernment and reflection forth. In the wake of many secularized and commercialized fiesta activities, which tended to draw people away from true devotion to Ina, he challenged not only our schools but all devotees of Ina to a more authentically devout celebration of the fiesta.

As we continue to prepare for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia, we have been led to reflect on the various activities normally held during the Fiesta, hoping to discern ways and means to preserve and enhance the devotion to Ina.
In this context the member schools of the Bicol Association of Catholic Schools (BACS), who have participated in the Military Parade during the Fiesta in the past, met in Naga on 18 June 2009. All these schools were unanimous in a shared conviction that a Military Parade has relevance neither to the celebration nor to the enhancement of the Devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia and should not be scheduled within the Novena to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. The BACS schools therefore unanimously urge that the Military Parade be scheduled outside of the Novena on such a civic holiday as Naga Charter Day or on Philippine Independence Day. Training on Barangay Justice in Calabanga
The Ateneo de Naga University Social Involvement Council-Governance Cluster and Center for Local Governance (CLG) conducted the Training on Administration of Justice and Promotion of Community Peace in the Barangay to the pilot barangays in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, one of the Partner Communities of the University. The training was held at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall of the Local Government Unit of Calabanga which were attended by the Lupong Tagapamayapa Members of Barangays Balatasan, Balongay, Dominorog and Punta Tarawal on 29-30 July 2009.
2nd Run of Training on Livelihood Development
As one of the capability-building activities prepared by the Center for Local Governance for 2009, the 2nd run of the Training on Livelihood Development was conducted last 23-24 July 2009 at the CLG Training Room. The training was attended by the Punong Barangay and Committee Chair on Livelihood of the Liga ng mga Barangay Officers from the 3rd and 4th Districts of Camarines Sur.

Everyone was looking their best. In line with the celebration of Ignatiana, Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the University Dress-Up Day was held last 29 July 2009.For the fifth time in its third year, the college students of Ateneo de Naga University entered their classes in their corporate/business attires despite the hot weather. The Arrupe Convention Hall was packed with outstanding students and their proud parents last 23 July 2009. The Recognition Ceremony formally started at 4:30 pm with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Mrs. Bernadette Ibarbia of the College of Education then provided the Invocation, followed by a Welcome Address of Dr. Rebecca Torres, Academic Vice-President.
The ADNU Theology Department Joins Local Church Towards Renewal of Meaningful Devotion to the Lady of Penafrancia
The Faculty of the Theology Department of the Ateneo de Naga University, under the chairmanship of Mr. Peregrin D. Goingo who is also the President of the Caceres Association of Religion Teachers (CART) and a member of the Tercentenary Education Formation Committee of Caceres, has been actively involved in the Local Church of Caceres’s effort to bring renewal of devotion among the devotees of the Lady of Peñafrancia. Their involvement is two-pronged.

14-16 July 2009—Booklatan sa KDC Naga was held at the Arrupe Convention Center. The event was a project of the National Book Development Board as implemented by the University Social Involvement Council-Education Cluster, spearheaded by the AdNU College of Education, the AdNU-WB Knowledge for Development Center, and the James O'Brien, S.J. Library.
CLG Conducts Basic Group Facilitation Methods
The Center for Local Governance in coordination and the Office of the Graduate School conducted the Training on Technology of Participation Level 1: Basic Group Facilitation Methods last on 16-17 July 2009 at the CLG Training Room. The training was participated by the Master in Public Administration (MPA) students in preparation for the conduct of the Barangay Participatory Planning and Budgeting Workshop (BPPBW) as a practicum for PA 204 - Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Systems Analysis under Drs. Education Honors Program (EHP) Signing of Contract held
3 July 2009-- Twenty freshmen who qualified in the Education Honors Program (EHP) and their parents signed their scholarship contracts with the Ateneo de Naga University. It was stipulated in the contract that the University shall provide them 100% tuition and other fees renewable on a semestral basis.
CLG Conducts Training on Livelihood Development
The Ateneo de Naga University –Center for Local Governance (CLG) conducted Training on Livelihood Development at the CLG Training Room last 25-26 June 2009. Student volunteers had a pictorial activity last 24 June 2009 at the Ateneo de Naga University Four Pillars. This event served as a launching for the ‘Ako Rehistrado’ shirt which is a part of the AdNU TF2010 through CCD’s efforts for the voter’s registration campaign for the upcoming 2010 elections.

23 June 2009—The University Gym was pumped with athletic vigor as several young ballers were given the special privilege of participating in a special basketball clinic.Sponsored by the Athletics office, the event was graced by the presence of three coaches from the United States—two if which were AdNU HS alumni: Nong Caguco and Jeff Beriña, who had worked with the 2008 Olympics Coach Mike Kryzewski.

ACLC Joins University’s Campaign
on Influenza A(H1N1) Virus
As part of the University’s campaign on understanding Influenza A (H1N1), the Ateneo Child Learning Center (ACLC), in partnership with the University Health Services Center (UHSC), conducted an activity on basic hand washing. Representatives from the UHSC and selected students from the College of Nursing gave a talk on the importance of proper hand washing. The ACLC pupils also watched a demonstration on the techniques.

19 June—as part of the 61st Charter Anniversary Celebration, the 2009 Mayoral Awards was held at the Villa Caceres Hotel to honor Naga City's most outstanding citizens. Ma. Sheena Howard and Dr. Rufino Ramos were among the Mayoral Recognition Awardees. Both were given the award for their outstanding service and performance in their chosen endeavors that measurably contributed to the city's growth, honor, and glory.
College of Education: Bolder than Bold on its 60th Year
With an opening prayer—Stir us, O Lord to dare boldy, to venture into wider seas, the College of Education had boldy drawn its roadmap to the next five years, 2009-2014, during its evaluation and planning session at the Home Economics Room last 12 June from seven thirty in the morning until five in the afternoon.
Clores Presented Papers in the Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference 2009
Dr. Michael A. Clores, Program Director for the Natural Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department, presented four (4) papers in the Redesigning Pedagogy: International Conference 2009: Designing New Learning Contexts for a Globalising World last 1-3 June at the National Institute of Education, Singapore.
WB-KDC Hosts Youth Leaders Assembly
In an effort to orient the youth and challenge them to respond to the current situation in the community concerning the issues affecting Reproductive Health, the World Bank-Knowledge for Development Center (WB-KDC) hosted a Youth Leaders Assembly last 8 May 2009 from 1:30-4:30 in the afternoon at the WB-KDC office, Fr. James O'Brien, S.J. Library. The theme was Engaging the Youth in Adolescent Reproductive Health Advoc.
Nutrition for our Children Evaluation
The Nutrition for our Children Project Program Evaluation was held last 27 May 2009 at the Arrupe Convention Hall, Ateneo de Naga University. 73 participants composed of punong barangays, barangay health workers (BHW)-nutrition scholars (BNS), teachers-in-charge from seventeen (17) barangays, and municipal health officers-midwives from MLGUs of Cabusao, Calabanga, Sagñay, and Buhi attended the evaluation. The Center for Community Development and the University Social Environment Council facilitated the activity.
Faculty General Assembly 2009: First Semester
5-6 June 2009—the Ateneo de Naga University teaching community gathered in the Arrupe Convention Center to attend this schoolyear's Faculty General Assembly for the first semester. Fr. Dan Isidro S.J., Chair of the Department of Digital Arts and Computer Animation, started the event with a special prayer, followed by the Welcome Address of Dr. Rebecca Torres who have shared highlights on the achievements and changes within the community.
Group Conducts Anti-CON ASS Rally
To participate in the national protest against Charter Change (CHA-CHA), a cluster of AdNU students, faculty members and other notable figures of Naga City banded together to express their condemnation of the House of Representatives' efforts to push for CHA-CHA by way of a Constituent Assembly, populary known as CON ASS. The Anti-CON ASS rally was held at the Plaza Quince Martirez, Naga City on 4 June 2009. The protesting crowd invited motorists to blow their horns as a sign of support.
Task Force 2010
In order to have a fair and meaningful elections next year, a number of workshops sponsored by the Task Force 2010 are held at the different regions to tackle various issues. In Region V, through the Simbahang Lingkod Bayan (SLB) and the Institute of Politics, the Ateneo de Naga University has recently hosted the Bicol Region Multisectoral Consultation Workshop with the focus: Ensuring the Right to Electoral Participation Giving Access to Vulnerable Sectors in 2010.
Mass of the Holy Spirit
3 June 2009—To celebrate the start of the schoolyear, a Mass of the Holy Spirit was held at the University Church at 4:45 in the afternoon. The place was packed with the members of the Ateneo de Naga University community—composed faculty & staff, students, and even alumni representatives—manifesting a shared camaraderie and oneness in spirit. Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J., University President, served as the main celebrant.
OrSem 2009: A Successful Voyage
 In line with the 35th Jesuit General Congregation and the 150th year celebration of the return of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines, the Ateneo de Naga University College Guidance Center in cooperation with the Deputy Academic Vice-President for Formation Office held a different kind of Orientation Seminar themed AdNU at 70: Engaging New Frontiers Contributing to the 150 Years of Jesuit Education in the Philippines. This year's OrSem, held last 28-30 May 2009, reignited the spirit of exploration: to go beyond expectations and to face the new challenges set by the world.

 Seven young men (composed of four Filipinos, two Chinese, and one African) who had responded to God's call took their vows, from Novice to Juniorate, last 30 May 2009 at the Sacred Heart Novitiate in Novaliches. Mr. Victoria of CED bagged 1st Runner Up in the National Search

Victoria, a faculty member of the College of Education, who bagged first runner up in the annual national search for the Natatanging Guro sa Filipino in the tertiary level held at Teachers' Camp, Baguio City last 4-7 May 2009.
AdNU to host TF2010 Multisectoral Workshop and Launching
2-3 June 2009—The Ateneo de Naga University will host the Task Force 2010 Bicol-Wide Multisectoral Workshop and Launching at the Arrupe Convention Center.Task Force 2010 is a consortium and partnership between and among various election watchdogs aiming to push for the needed reforms in the electoral process and even in the COMELEC in order to restore credibility to the whole exercise and to ensure that there will be a clean, honest, peaceful, and credible elections in 2010 and beyond.

New CMO on Nursing
The Commission on Higher Education has released its latest mandate on the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) course. Known as CHED Memorandum Order Number 14, series of 2009 (CMO No. 14, s. 2009) with subject: Policies and Standards for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program, it was signed by current CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles on 28 April 2009. CMO 14, s. 2009 replaces CMO Nos. 5, s. 2008. The latest CHED Memorandum Order will take effect starting this coming schoolyear, 2009-2010, fifteen days after its publication in the official Gazette or in a newspaper of national circulation.
ADNU still No. 1 in LET
The Ateneo de Naga University College of Education produced 26 new teachers-- all passers in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) held on April 5, 2009. ADNU registered an overall passing rate of 60 percent (100 percent for the first timers) and 74 percent (95 percent for the first timers) at the elementary and secondary levels, respectively. These rates are way above the national marks of 27.86 percent and 24.67 percent.
ADNU draws roadmap to the future
Some 48 stakeholders of the University – administrators, faculty, staff and students - have formulated new goals and objectives of the University in an Organizational Planning last May 12 and 13 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.
Geared towards the theme: “Drawing the Roadmap to the Future: The Ateneo de Naga University towards Sustaining its Leadership and Achievement Amidst Challenges,” the two-day activity aimed at coming up with a 5-year Corporate Plan which will articulate the University Mission-Vision and draw concrete actions to achieve them.
An Extraordinary Thanksgiving Mass
 10 May 2009–A Thanksgiving mass was held at the University Church at 5pm to honor the six newly ordained Jesuit Priests. They were Frs. Francis Alvarez, Jason Dy, Oliver Dy, Frank Savadera, Robbie Sian, and Javy Alpasa, S.J., who was also the main celebrant. University President Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. delivered the homily.

Re-green, Reuse-Reduce-Recycle
The last in a series of four tree planting activities led by the Center for Community Development’s National Service Training Program among AdNU’s faculty, personnel, and student volunteers in barangays Antipolo, Sta. Cruz, of Buhi and in Atulayan of Sagñay, Camarines Sur marked the end of the school year with a shift in color and task.

Rosie Chew Scholarship Assistance
 Through the mediation of our alumnus, Mr. Ric de la Torre, the Ateneo de Naga University has received a grant of four-hundred-thousand pesos (PHP 400,000) from Dr. Eduardo L. Roberto, President, The Center for Asian Research and Development Foundation, Inc., establishing the Rosie Chew Scholarship Assistance Trust Fund. Earnings from the fund will assist high caliber and financially challenged junior and senior students enrolled in marketing or marketing-research related courses. It will be managed by the Office of Admissions and Aid.

Shared Glory: Two Jesuit Universities
Number One in the Recent ECE Board Examination, Category C
The results are finally out—The Ateneo de Naga University and its sister school Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) stand tall on the number one spot in the recent ECE Board Examination (Category C) conducted last 28-29 March 2009. With a registered Passing Percentage of 45%, this is a historical first for the AdNU to be Number 1 in the given category.
 59th Commencement Exercises: The Largest Number of Graduates to Date
28 March 2009—One thousand and seventy nine (1,079) proud students marched and received their hard-earned diplomas at the Ateneo de Naga University Four Pillars for the 59th Commencement Exercises.
ADNU Has Two New Professors
 Dr. Allan Sioson, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, and Dr. Rufino Ramos III, Director of the College Guidance Office, were conferred the rank of professor last 20 February 2009 at the Fr. Pedro Arrupe Convention Center.
The honorees presented their lectures: "Approximating Biological Life's Fundamental Units" by Dr. Sioson and "Happiness and the Filipino Youth" by Dr. Ramos.
Indonesian Students Completed the Student Exchange Program
The inception of the Student Exchange Program between the Universitas Negeri Malang (UNM) of Indonesia and the Ateneo de Naga University began as early as December of 2007 through Dr. Suisana Kweldju, Director of the Office of International Affairs of (UNM), and Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, Dean of the College of Education .
SMEDI and CLG Host AYAD
 The Ateneo de Naga University, through the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Institute Foundation, Inc. (SMEDI), and the Center for Local Governance (CLG) are hosting two (2) Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYADs) this year. These volunteers are Ms. Shannon Kylie Smith and Ms. Julia Lauren Smith.

On 2 March 2009, University President Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. of the
Ateneo de Naga University and Chancellor Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio of the University of the Philippines Manila signed a Memorandum of Agreement for a collaborative research entitled "Database and Systems Biology for Selected Plants and Associated Arthropods Found in the Four
Subcatchments of Mt. Isarog National Park (MINP)". The MOA signing
occurred at the UP Manila Boardroom at 10:30AM. Witnesses of the MOA
signing from Ateneo de Naga University were Dr. Emelina G. Regis, Ms.

of Computer Studies. Those from UP Manila were Dr. Malou G. Nicolas

Evaluation & Consultation Meetings for the University Partner Communities
The University Social Involvement Council (USIC) through its Governance Cluster and the Center for Local Governance of the Ateneo
de Naga University conducted an Evaluation and Consultation Meeting
with the University partner communities. It was first held on 10
February 2009 for the Municipalities of Cabusao and Calabanga then on
17 February 2009 for the Municipalities of Buhi and Sagñay. The
activity was conducted with the completion of the interventions
provided to the partner communities last year (2008) and in
preparation for this year (2009) based on the 3-Year Strategic
Development Plan crafted by the University and the partner
communities.
ADNU has ‘Best Student Services’ in Bikol – CHED Region V
After our recognition as the region’s sole autonomous University, our designation as Centers of Excellence and Development in four of our disciplines, our distinction as the only school with PAASCU Level III-accredited programs in the Bikol, the Ateneo de Naga University scored another victory as the Commission on Higher Education – Region V found ADNU’s student welfare and services programs the best in Bikol.

ADNU Sports on the go
 March 7 and 8 was a busy weekend for the sports program of Ateneo de Naga University as 3 of its varsity teams conducted several activities as part of their requirement as recognized teams of ADNU athletics program. Last March 7, Saturday, the Ateneo Golden Cavalry, the school’s resident pep squad, conducted a 1-day cheer camp for cheer and dance enthusiasts within Naga City. The main objectives of the said activity were to promote the culture of cheer dancing and at the same time develop the organizing skills of its members. More than 20 participants took part in the event that was held at the covered courts of the university.

ADNU Fetes the Superior Overall Performance of its Nurses in the November 2008 Licensure Exams
In celebration of its superior overall performance in the November 2008 Licensure Examinations in Nursing, the Ateneo de Naga University College of Nursing with the help of the Ateneo Nursing Students Association will be holding a Luminous Parade on Friday, 27 February 2009. The parade will start at 5:00pm at the Ateneo Four Pillars and will proceed through the major streets of Naga City.
ADNU Produces 85 New Nurses;
Ranks 1st in Region V
The Ateneo de Naga University College of Nursing has produced 85 new nurses – all passers in the recent Nurse Licensure Examination held last November 2008. The school has also registered a 75% passing rate that is way above the national passing rate of 44.50%. In the report on the performance of schools as to percentage of passing released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on its website, ADNU ranks 16th among schools with 100 or more examinees (Category A) while ranking 1st among all schools in Region V. |
