UP ITTC Director Joins SLICTC

Dr. Jaime D.L. Caro, UP Information Technology Training Center Director and Assistant Vice President for Development of UP System, has agreed to come to Naga to grace the conference. Dr. Caro is a very well-known icon in IT Education. Currently, he is the president of the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP). He is also a member of the Technical Panel for IT Education (TPITE).

In the conference, Dr. Caro will speak on the Challenges and Initiatives in IT Education.

APC Participants Get Conference Fee Discount

The SLICTC Executive Committee has approved the Conference fee discount for those who will participate in the First Ateneo Programming Challenge. Rates are now posted at this link.

The competition will be held on February 7, a day before the conference.

Doc Mana is SLICTC's Keynote Speaker!

Dr. Pablo ManalastasThe Department of Computer Science along with the entire Ateneo de Naga Community is very honored to have Dr. Pablo Manalastas as the keynote speaker on the 4th Southern Luzon Information and Communications Technology Conference scheduled on the 9th of February 2008. Doc Mana, as most of his students and colleagues call him, is an icon in IT education. He is a professor in the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science at the Ateneo de Manila University. He has been well known in the country to be a very prolific and active Open Source Enthusiast.

We are very exicted as we await for Doc Mana's visit to Bikol!

The 4th Southern Luzon ICT Conference will be held on February 8, 2008 at the Arrupe Convention Hall, Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City. This conference aims to bring together the different IT educators and students of the Southern Luzon region and provide a venue for them to share and learn knowledge, as well as to benchmark with their peers. This year's theme is "Towards Open Source Systems and Tools in IT Education."
