| NCF, DWC Tops APC Finals |

The team from Divine Word College of Legazpi emerged as the Category B champion for the 1st Ateneo Programming Challenge. It bested 8 other teams among the different prestigious universities and colleges in the region. University of Nueva Caceres, on the other hand, grabbed the 2nd place.

In the individual category, Edgar Manuel Aureus of the Naga College Foundation proved that he is the man to beat as he grabbed the top spot. Edgar solved 4 problems out of seven. Jelly Pantoja (ADNU) and Mark Kenneth Rañosa (AMA-Legazpi) placed second and third, respectively.

| Naga College Foundation Tops APC Individual Elimination Round |
Edgar Manuel A. Aureus, a student from Naga College Foundation, emerged as the top qualifier in the recent elimination round of the 1st Ateneo Programming Challenge held last January 27. Edgar, a 2nd year BS in Computer Science student, bested 37 students from the different prestigious universities and colleges in the entire bicol region. He managed to solve all problems given by the contest judges in no more than 2 hours.
Watch out for the APC Finals on February 7 as 16 finalists will compete their way in becoming the first-ever APC Individual Champion!

| Qualifying Orientation For Category A Participants |
| January 25 (Friday) is the scheduled orientation for ALL Category A (Individual) participants. Venue is at the Computer Studies Laboratory 2, 2nd Floor, Phelan Building. Orientation starts at 4:30pm. Attendance is a MUST. |
| |
| Interesting Facts About The Competition |
- The contest problems are drawn from high school and college mathematics and computing, as well as everyday knowledge and problem solving.
- Programming books and references are allowed in the competition.
- ALL submitted programs must read input from a file and output is displayed in the console.
- Only Basic Programming skill is needed to join the contest.
- A problem requires only a very basic programming code solution. Advanced programming semantics and contructs are not recommended.
