General Faculty Assembly for the Second Semester

The Faculty members of the Ateneo de Naga University College Community once again gathered at the Arrupe Convention Hall last 6 November 2009 for the semestral General Faculty Assembly.

Registration started as early as 2:00 in the afternoon. Fr. Jose Embile, S.J., College Guidance Counselor, lead the convocation via a responsorial song. Dr. Rebecca Torres, Academic Vice-President, then introduced the new and returning teachers to the AdNU community. After the pleasant welcoming and introduction, the podium was given to Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J., University President, for the Presidential Address.

Fr. Tabora shared a brief history of the Ateneo de Naga University which also previewed a book-in-progress written by Prof. Danny Gerona, College Faculty and Local Historian. The University President also made a small comparison regarding the goals of the Ateneo in the past with the present. Also stated were two important challenges raised by Most Rev. Fr. Adolfo Nicolas, S.J., General of the Society of Jesus, regarding the importance of Depth and Universality in education.

After the Presidential Address, two conversations were held. The first forum was a Conversation of Faculty-Research Related Matters lead by Prof. Allan Sioson, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, while the second forum was a Conversation on the Deadline for the Submission of Grades lead by Dr. Torres.

Evaluation reports on the recent earthquake drill was also provided by Atty. Jo Cabiles, Director of the Office of Student Affairs. A discussion on flash floods and its pertinent precautions was then given by Mr. Romeo Fajardo, Jr., Director of the Office of Administrative Services.

The assembly ended with a Liturgy lead by Fr. Danny Isidro, Chair of the Digital Arts and Computer Animation Department.

The General Faculty Assembly 2009 for the Second Semester was organized by the Office of the Academic Vice-President. It was also hosted by Mr. Boboy Pesimo, Faculty member of the DACA Department.
