OrSem happens twice in AdNU. To introduce the new students and transferees to the Ateneo de Naga University life, an Orientation Seminar for the second Semester was held last 3 November 2009 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.
Over eighty (80) participants attended the seminar to learn more about the Ignatian Way. In the morning, Dr. Rebecca Torres, Academic Vice-President, welcomed the students to the Ateneo Community. Ms. Janet Badong-Badilla, Deputy AVP for Formation, introduced theIgnatian Spirituality. An orientation regarding the various Formation Offices was also given with their respective Directors as speakers:Atty. Jo Cabiles for the Office of Student Affairs, Mr. Wilbur Almoneda for the Campus Ministry, Dr. Rufi Ramos for the College Guidance Center, Mr. Elmer Sto. Domingo for the Center for Community Development, and Mr. Joseph Claro for the College Athletics Office.Mr. John Joseph Altea, President of the Student Body, also introduced the Supreme Student Government. Question and Answer portions were also allotted for clarifications and concerns.
The afternoon sessions were spent mostly inside the classrooms as students participated in several activities: Interaction Laboratory 1 focused on Personal Visioning while Interaction Laboratory 2 focused on Personal Growth and Academic Setting. The new students then gave a small sharing, reflection, and an evaluation.
The Orientation Seminar for Freshmen and Transferees aims to orient them about the Ateneo de Naga as a Catholic, Filipino, and Jesuit Community in order that they may come to an appreciation of Ateneo Education and understand what it means to them personally. The OrSem also aims to orient the freshmen and transferees on the formation given in the university through the different formation and support offices, in order that they may begin to appreciate the totality of their person, and the personal development that shall be supported in the university.
Once again, the Peer Counselors, Student Volunteers, and Facilitators’ Brigade were tapped to organize the activity under the supervision of the College Guidance Office.
