AdNU Web Writers Attend Workshop in News Writing
By Richard H. Cabida, BSBA Business Economics and
Ranier Armand V. Magno, BSBA Marketing Management
Ten members of the Ateneo de Naga Web Writers, a pool of student writers from various colleges in the university, attended a News Writing Workshop held at the AdNU New Thesis Room last Monday, October 29, 2007. The whole-day workshop was meant to further enhance the news writing skills of the web writers.
Mr. Adonis “Toots” Rugeria, a faculty member from the Media Studies Department, graced the workshop as the resource person. His sense of humor and indubitable expertise in news writing provided invaluable insights to the participants. His lecture exposed the web writers to a more technical and journalistic style of news writing. Writing exercises and critiquing were also done after the lecture, giving the web writers a chance to assess their writing skills and discover areas for improvement.
The workshop was made possible by the Office of the University President through the initiatives of Mr. Bernie Jereza, Director for University Website Development and Ms. Charissa Noble, Web Team Content Head.
To date there are twenty members making up the pool of web writers. More members from the different colleges are still needed and encouraged to join.
