AdNU HS Batch '69 Celebrates Ruby Anniversary

For two days the members of AdNU High School Batch of 1969 immersed themselves in blissful memories of their high school years: sharing stories, catching up, and experiencing once again the love formed through friendship.

To celebrate their 40th Anniversary, over fifty (50) 69ers gathered in Naga to participate in a short but meaningful reunion last 23-24 October 2009.

Remembering High School, Deepening Spirituality

On the first day, the 69ers visited the AdNU High School Campus in Pacol via a motorcade. They were then welcomed by Mr. Greg Abonal, AdNU HS Principal, who also guided them through the halls of the new buildings. There, the batchmates observed a new generation of Ateneans and appreciated the continuing mission of the school to form "Men and Women for others."

In the afternoon, they gathered at the Bro. Richie Fernando, S.J. Hall for a batch recollection. Fr. Emmanuel Non, S.J., their Religion teacher back in high school, came all the way from Cebu to facilitate the afternoon session. After  the recollection, they went to University Church to celebrate the mass. Although certain services and facilities were temporarily unavailable in the venue, they still managed to celebrate a very humble yet genuine mass. With only a handful of candles, and with the participants closely seated near the altar, the spirit of solemnity was so much present in the Church.

Strengthening Friendship, Giving Back to God

The 69ers spent their  second day at Bombon for an outreach program. There they held their 6th Annual Medical and Dental Mission, which is their continuous commitment in helping the poor in Bicol. With the participation of batchmates based outside Naga, this year's program became a highlight in the history of Batch '69's Annual Mission.

The reunion ended with a grand celebration in the evening at the Avenue Plaza Hotel. Titled Night Class  of High School Batch '69: Let's Be Boys Again, the batchmates, along with their lovely wives, enjoyed an evening of food, drinks, laughter, nostalgic music, and of course, good memories of yesteryears.
