City of Naga Confers 2007 Mayoral Awards
to Three Outstanding Ateneo Alumni

The people of Naga City in celebration of the 109th anniversary of Naga’s liberation from the Spanish crown, honors its outstanding sons and daughters with the 2007 Mayoral Awards.  This prestigious award gives tribute to the men and women who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields of endeavor in the service of their fellowmen.  With this year’s theme: “The Quest for Excellence Never Ends” , eleven outstanding Nagueños were recognized in the fields of education, NGO/peace advocacy, public service, academic, medicine/community service, sports and community service.

Three Ateneo alumni were chosen among the numerous nominees for the said award.  Ms. Jean Navera Llorin of college batch 62 was chosen as one of the Special Mayoral Awardees for her NGO work and Peace advocacy.  Her unselfish dedication to advance despite overwhelming odds and her cause for people empowerment, social concern and volunteerism espoused genuine Christian values as a fearless woman for others.  Two other alumni, Ms. Julie Lucille H. Del Valle (AdNU College BSED 2007) and Mr. Ben B. Secretario (AdNU College BSBA 2007) were recognized fortheir academic excellence and were thus given the Mayoral recognition in the individual category.  Julie and Ben brought honor and glory to the City of Naga as well as to their alma mater by both being selected in the 2007 Top Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP).

Conferment Ceremonies of the 2007 Mayoral Awards was held last September 19, 2007 at the Starmark Royale, J. Miranda Avenue, Naga City.  The awarding rights were presented by the Mayoral Awards Search Committee and no less than the Naga City Mayor himself, Honorable Jesse M. Robredo who is also an Ateneo alumnus of High School batch 1974.
