AdNU-WB KDC Sets Up Nooks of Knowledge in Camarines Sur

In an effort to make knowledge more accessible to the public, the Ateneo de Naga University-World Bank Knowledge for Development Center (AdNU-WB KDC) put up six (6) satellite nooks in four (4) municipalities of Camarines Sur.
Three of the six nooks were placed in Cabusao: one each in the Municipal Hall, Brgy. Barceloneta, and Gawad Kalinga Center. The other three, on the other hand, were set up in Calabanga, Sangay, and Buhi. In connection with this, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was held between AdNU-WB KDC and the local government units (LGU's) of the respective municipalities on June 12-13, 2008. In this MOA, the involved parties agreed to the following:
- That AdNU shall put up the “knowledge sharing corner” in the area/space designated by the municipality/barangay;
- That AdNU shall supply books, publications and other information resources which will be made available to the community;
- That the municipality/barangay shall designate a person in charge for the safekeeping, maintenance and monitoring of the “knowledge sharing corner”;
- That the municipality/barangay shall keep a record of the usage or availment of the resources made available in the “knowledge sharing corner” and regularly submit the same to the AdNU;
- That the municipality/barangay shall encourage and facilitate optimum usage of the informational resources made available in the corner and formulate and implement policies that will achieve the objectives of the thereof.
AdNU`s representatives for the said event were Atty. Mila Raquid-Arroyo, Director of the University Social Involvement Office, Ms. Edna San Buenaventura, AdNU's University Librarian, Dr. Arnulfo Aaron Reganit, Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Emelina Regis, Director of AdNU's Institute for Environment Conservation and Research, Ms. Grace Razon, KDC Support Staff, selected members of the faculty, and some students.
The AdNU-WB KDC is surpervised and managed by the University Social Involvement Council (USIC). It was inaugurated on September 7, 2006 and is located in the Ground Floor of AdNU's Fr. James O`Brien Library.
