College of Education sponsors Regional Conference
on Licensure Examination for Teachers

The ADNU College of Education and the Philippine Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE) sponsored a one-day conference with the theme: Raising Standards—Setting Targets: Improving School's LET Performance, last April 25, 2008 at the Richie Fernando Conference Hall of Ateneo de Naga University.  The conference was organized to address the problem on the performance of Region V in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).  Over the years, the performance of Region V in the LET has been relatively low with a variation of passing rates among schools ranging from zero (0) to as high as eighty plus (80+) percent.

Dr. Brenda B. Corpuz, senior member of the Board for Professional Teachers of the Professional Regulation Commission was the guest speaker.   Her lecture centered around the following: (1) understanding emerging approaches for improving quality teacher training and development; (2) learning how these approaches translate into measurable improvements in the Licensure Examination for Teachers performance; and (3) developing shared commitments for cooperative and region-wide efforts to improve LET performance.

In the afternoon session , Miss Cresencia C. Laguerta, Chair of the AdNU Math and Sciences Department, helped  more than a hundred participants from the 66 teacher training institutions who participated to develop a good syllabus.
