ADNU Celebrates 58th Commencement Exercises

Nine hundred and fifty-two (952) graduates proudly marched through the Four Pillars last March 29, 2008 during the 58th commencement exercises.  The whole university represented by the College Deans, Administrators, Board of Trustees, faculty and staff joined the proud parents and students in celebrating the graduation day of the College and Graduate School Batch 2008. 

Ms. Ira Sheena C. Howard, the class valedictorian, delivered her valedictory address entitled Years of Struggle, Pain and Victory.  Fr. Wilmer Joseph Tria, Chief Executive Officer of the Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal Foundation-Bikol, represented and received the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanities, honoris causa, conferred upon the late Doña Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal-Collantes.  He also delivered the Address to the graduates on behalf of the Madrigal family.  Dr. Rebecca C. Torres, Academic Vice-President, and Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J., University President, delivered the ceremonial presentation and confirmation of the candidates for graduation respectively.  The Father President also delivered the University President’s Address to the Graduates. 

The distribution of diploma and awarding of honors were presented by the respective Deans of Colleges. The Special awardees accompanied by their parents/guardians were presented and given medals by the University President, Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. Mr. Hubert A. Brocales, Class 2008 President, presented the Class 2008 Project which was received by Fr. Tabora, S.J. in behalf of the university.  Afterwards, the graduates were inducted as members of the Ateneo de Naga University Alumni Association by its president, Mr. Remi S. Manchus. 

The commencement exercises were capped with the singing of University Hymn and the Regnum Dei.  Mr. Dennis A. Locsin, faculty member of the College of Nursing, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
