Indonesia Officials Visit AdNU; Sign MoA
A delegation of four (4) officials from the State University of Malang in Indonesia , headed by its Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Suparno visited ADNU (Bagumbayan and Pacol Campus) last March 7-8, 2008. The other members of the delegation were Dr. Marthen Pali, Dr. Mukhtar and the Director of Office of International Affairs – Dr. Siusana Kweldju. Their visit was aimed at establishing international linkages with some leading universities in the Philippines in the field of teacher education.
During their two-day stay in Naga City , the delegation also visited ADNU’s cooperating schools for the field study component of the new Teacher Education Curriculum, namely: Naga Parochial School , Saint Joseph School and the Naga Central School . Dr. Suparno also had the opportunity to have a short interaction with the participants of the In-Service Training for School Principals in Region V last March 8, 2008, where he stressed that the good performance of Filipino teachers in his country led them to explore linkages with leading teacher education institution in the Philippines.
The Center for Local Governance (CLG), Psychological Services Center , James O’Brien Library, College Reading Center and the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Institute (SMEDI) of ADNU were also visited by the delegation.
The visit culminated in the signing of the General Agreement between the State University of Malang and ADNU for a two-year master’s program for elementary teachers of Indonesia . Under this agreement, a lecture from ADNU shall teach two courses in Malang under the program from February to May in 2009. In addition, 20 graduate students from Malang will stay in ADNU for their internship from June to October, 2009. The College of Education is the lead unit of AdNU in the implementation of this Special Project
