Students Dress Up for University Day
In celebration of the University Day last February 20, 2008, the students came to school in their business and corporate attires as they took part in the 2nd University Dress Up Day. This activity is part of the Ignatian formation initiatives for the members of the university community under the Ignatian Formation Program. It aims to provide the opportunity especially for the students to prepare themselves for professional life where proper grooming and dressing is expected. It also aims to help students gain confidence in carrying themselves in public and gain skills in public relations and dealings.
Indeed, not only did the students look like young executives in their smart business suits but they also felt like young professionals. The faculty and staff also took part in dressing up a little more formally than their ordinary day to day office wear. Even the young preschoolers of the Ateneo Child Learning Center (ACLC) experienced what it feels like to dress like grown ups.
Feedback results from last year’s university dress up day showed that seventy-four (74) percent found the activity helpful. Eighty-two (82) percent said that the dress up day be continued and sixty-nine (69) percent said that the activity be done once a semester. This year, majority of the feedbacks from the students, administrators, faculty and staff were also positive sighting that it was indeed good for the students to have a feel of what it would be like when they work. Though some still found it uncomfortable and even inconvenient, most students said that their confidence level improved during that day as they looked and felt more dignified and reputable.
