CLG's ACP, Naga City: Child-Friendly LGU

In line with the University's semestral Alternative Class Program (APC), the Center for Local Governance sponsored the Lecture-Discussion on “Naga City: Child-Friendly Local Government Unit”.

The Lecture-Discussion brought about Naga City’s implementation of the different programs based on Survival, Developmental, Participation and Protection rights of children. Thus, the City was recognized as the Most Child-Friendly City for 2008 by the National Council for the Welfare of Children. The City's State of the Children Report for 2010 was also presented which laid down the present status of children in terms of education and health. Further, the City's challenges, special interventions and government spending were also included in the discussion.

The said discussion presented the current status of the children in Naga City and gave importance to the concerted efforts given by the City Government in making Naga City “An Maogmang Lugar” (A Happy Place) for children.

Mr. Norman Posugac, Planning Officer III of the Naga City Planning and Development Office (NCPDO) was the presenter of the said topic. After the discussion, the student-attendees raised to the presenter some of their concerns in the implementation of the said program.

The activity was held on 18 February 2010 at the CLG Training Room. –by Ayla Marie A. Lunar
