AdNU College of Computer Studies Hosts ICT Conference

The 4th Southern Luzon ICT Conference entitled “Towards Open-Source Systems and Tools in IT Education” was held at the Arrupe Convention Hall in Ateneo de Naga University last February 8, 2008. Keynote speakers for this event were Dr. Jaime D.L. Caro from the University of the Philippines and Dr. Pablo Manalastas from the Ateneo de Manila University.

During the morning session, Dr. Caro discussed the Challenges and Initiatives in IT Education while Dr. Manalastas discussed about the different Open-source tools and software. In the afternoon, the participants were divided into groups according to the session they have enlisted in. There were five sessions, Open-office, GIMP, Seamonkey, MySQL, and the plenary session.

The conference was attended by students from the different Colleges and Universities all over the Bicol Region such as Osmeña Colleges, Our Lady of Lourdes College, STI College- Legaspi, Partido State University, Divine Word College of Legaspi, Camarines Norte State College, Daniel B. Peña Memorial College Foundation, WRI- Iriga, and the Ateneo de Naga University.
