 The Ateneo de Naga University High School and College Community (Faculty & Staff) once again participated in a special forum on the matters of humanistic and spiritual development through a deeper understanding and appreciation of Church Encyclicals. Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth), the latest social encyclical authored by Pope Benedict XVI, was the first to be discussed among the community this 2010.
Organized by the Ignatian Formation Center, in coordination with the Philosophy Department (as part of its Departmental Week), the forum was held at the Arrupe Convention Hall last 29 January 2010 at 3:00 PM. Adrian Remodo, a faculty member of the Philosophy Department, served as the emcee. Before the main event, Dr. Rebecca Torres, Academic Vice-President, gave her welcome remarks, citing gratitude to the attendants as well as discussing the purpose of the talk. Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ, University President, then gave an intensive lecture regarding the encyclical, sharing a short history of the document, providing the audience with the key points of each chapter of the text, and pointing out the challenges expressed by latest social teaching. A forum on clarifications, reflections, and appreciation of the encyclical followed.
