Ateneo de Naga Alumni Celebrates 61st Grand Homecoming

The ADNU Xavier hall was packed as hundreds of Ateneo de Naga alumni from the 40’s up to the most recent graduates of 2007 came home to the Ateneo last December 30, 2007 as they celebrate the 61st Annual Grand Alumni Homecoming.  They came from all over the country as well from other parts of the world to once again join their classmates and friends in the tradition of celebrating friendship the Ateneo way.

A good number of attendees and a noticeable presence of the younger batches were noted in this homecoming.  Registration, food and drinks were all for free.  Not to mention the numerous and exciting raffle prizes which were drawn all through out the evening.  Entertainment was superb with varied music and dance which matched the taste of the audience of various ages.  It was truly a memorable evening for all those who came.  All these were made possible through the efforts of the homecoming’s host, silver jubilarian high school batch 1982 headed by its president Charlie Villaseñor.

Concurrently, Villaseñor is also the president of the 2007 Ateneo de Naga University Alumni Association (ADNUAA) Board.  He is the man behind the theme “Rebuilding and Re-inventing the Alumni Association.  He made a bold move in creating an Integrated Alumni Board whose purpose is to serve as a more centralized, service- driven alumni association.  This was duly proposed to and mandated by the members of the alumni during the business meeting last December 30 homecoming. Villaseñor also presented a PowerPoint presentation on this during his address at the homecoming program.

Meanwhile a new set of ADNUAA board (Bicol Chapter) was elected for the term of one year this 2008.  Remi S. Manchus of HS’58 and Raoul Herras of HS’83 were elected as the new ADNUAA president and vice-president respectively. A symbolic turnover was also made during the homecoming as Charlie Villaseñor presented an elaborately designed clock to incumbent president of high school batch 1983, Vic Delima.

Kudos to highs school ’82 for a truly grand and fun-filled homecoming!  May the tradition of coming home to the Ateneo live on!
