Statement of Philosophy and Goals

The establishment of the Nursing Program of the Ateneo de Naga University is in pursuit of the mission of the University itself: to be of service to the community, both local and global, by providing excellent quality of education in the tradition of Jesuit education efforts over the centuries and all over the world. Characteristically, the focus of the program is the total formation of the students: not only the technical skills and computer skills, so vital for effective work in today’s environment. Above all, the program is focused on the values formation of the student. The be able to situate this service career in the broader context of one’s personal, spiritual and religious development, as well as its impact on the care receivers and the community at large is an important concern of the program.

The nursing program relates, in a very direct way, to the ideal presented to all Ateneo de Naga student: to be men and women for others.

  1. Apply theory and safe practice of the comprehensive nursing care to
    individual members and families in the community.
  2. Develop skills in making sound decision using the problem solving approach in the nursing processes.
  3. Critically analyze family and community situation using skills in management and community-based approaches.
  4. Discover self through enriched and well-planned clinical experiences in each level.
  5. Develop good the0-moral behavior when confronted by ethical dilemmas related to nursing practice.
